The Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) has raised an alarm over a viral advertisement announcing the recruitment of rangers.
In a statement dated Tuesday, June 3, the service warned Kenyans that the advertisement did not emanate from it.
KWS added that fraudsters were behind the fake advert, further cautioning Kenyans against taking part in the fake recruitment exercise being done online.
"Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has become aware of fraudulent recruitment advertisements and fake online portals circulating on social media, falsely claiming affiliation with KWS," read the statement in part.
"We urge the public to be vigilant - KWS does not conduct recruitment through unofficial platforms or unauthorised websites. These are scams designed to mislead and exploit."

The service also advised Kenyans to be vigilant, as it only communicates information on recruitment via its official pages.
"For accurate information, always verify recruitment details through our official channels, including the KWS website and verified social media pages. Stay informed, stay safe," KWS advised.
In recent years, many Kenyans have been conned out of their hard-earned money through such fraudulent schemes.
Additionally, such schemes are used by fraudsters to obtain personal data of Kenyans, such as their email addresses and personal numbers.
The details are then used for unsolicited promotions, among others.
Therefore, Kenyans can always verify details on ongoing recruitment exercises by checking whether the recruitment notice has been published on the official website or the local dailies.
