Kiharu Member of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro, has condemned the increasing cases of mysterious deaths of Kenyans in the hands of the police.

In a statement dated Monday, June 9, Ndindi described the trend as diabolical, adding that the trend should not be normalized.

He wondered why the country was sinking to such a low point that it was losing young and promising citizens.

"This is very unfortunate. How have we sunk this low as a country? Albert Ojwang, a bustling young man with a clearly promising future cut short senselessly!. As a Country, we cannot normalise this kind of heinous, berserk, and diabolical trend," he wrote on his X page.

"Our thoughts are with the family of Albert as we all demand Justice. Very, very unfortunate."

The MP was among the leaders and Kenyans who raised concerns over the mysterious death of Ojwang.

According to preliminary reports by the police, Ojwang was found unconscious after he had hit his head on the walls of the Central Police Station.

However, these versions of events have been questioned by Kenyans even as the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) undertakes its investigations.

Earlier, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed that the deceased was arrested in Homa Bay following a complaint by Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat.

"Records indicate that he was transported to Nairobi, where he was questioned by officers from DCI Headquarters on Saturday. He was later booked at Central Police Station under Occurrence Book (OB) Number 136/7/6/2025 at 2135 hours," Kanja stated.

"During a routine cell inspection, Ojwang was found unconscious. He was immediately rushed to Mbagathi Hospital for treatment, as documented under OB Number 09/08/06/2025 at 0139 hours. Upon arrival, he was declared dead."

Meanwhile, senior officers at the Central Police Station were interdicted as investigations continue.
