Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has revealed that the National Police Service (NPS) will take disciplinary action against the officer who reported that Albert Ojwang died after hitting his head on the wall.
Speaking in the Senate on Wednesday, June 11, Kanja noted that the first statement was released based on information that was provided by an officer at the Central Police Station.
However, the name of the officer who provided the information was not revealed.
Therefore, based on the postmortem report that ruled out self-inflicted injury, the IG indicated that the service would take action against the officer.
"The officers who issued the initial report will have to face disciplinary action for providing incorrect information," the IG revealed.

Notably, the IG found himself in a tight spot as Senators demanded that he withdraw and apologize for the initial claim made by the police.
"I tender my apology on behalf of the National Police Service over that report," he stated
Initially, the NPS claimed that Ojwang died after hitting his head on the wall.
However, the claims were refuted following a postmortem conducted on Tuesday, June 10.
According to the autopsy report, Ojwang died as a result of a head injury that was consistent with an assault.
The deceased also had neck impressions, pointing to the possibility that he was strangled.
"The cause of death is very clear. A head injury, neck compression, and we also have other injuries on other parts of the body that are pointing towards assault," Pathologist Bernard Midia revealed.
