The government has issued an appeal to both Iran and Israel to de-escalate tensions amid growing fears that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East could spiral into a broader regional crisis.
In a statement on Friday, June 14, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei expressed concern over the rapidly deteriorating situation in the region.
"We are following with deep concern the escalating situation in the Middle East that has the potential to spiral out of control with grievous implications for regional and global peace and security,” he said.
With the hostilities between Iran and Israel intensify, Sing'Oei has called for the urgent need for restraint and dialogue.
"We urge Israel and Iran to exercise restraint and seek peaceful resolution to the prevailing challenge that has triggered the current escalation in line with the Charter of the United Nations. A clear reason why we need a UNSC that functions and acts in the best interest of all,” he added.

In the early hours of Friday, June 13, over 200 Israeli fighter jets and Mossad drones attacked multiple strategic sites across Iran.
These included key nuclear enrichment facilities such as Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan, in addition to missile bases, air-defense systems, and residential compounds linked to high-ranking officials.
The strikes also reportedly targeted and killed several high-profile Iranian figures, including Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Hossein Salami, Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri, and prominent nuclear scientists Fereydoon Abbasi and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi.
Iran responded by launching over 100 suicide drones aimed at Israeli territory, most of which were intercepted before reaching their targets.
Since the dawn attack, the situation has rapidly escalated.
