KenGen noted that job vacancies are posted on the company’s website and verified social media platforms.

The Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has flagged an advert circulating on social media announcing 200 job vacancies in the company.

In a statement on Tuesday, June 17, KenGen said the job advert bearing its name was fake.

KenGen urged members of the public to verify job vacancies on the company’s website and verified social media platforms.

“Fake Job Alert! A fraudulent job advert using KenGen’s name is circulating online. Please note, all vacancies are posted on http://kengen.co.ke and through our verified platforms and official communication channels,” KenGen stated.

The fake advert, which has the KenGen letterhead and logo, claimed the company was seeking to hire 200 employees across different departments.

This comes months after KenGen flagged another job advert that was announcing 218 vacancies in the agency.

KenGen, in a statement on March 20, 2025, said the fake advert was being circulated on WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

“Beware of fraudulent job adverts circulating on WhatsApp claiming to be from us. KenGen vacancies are only published on our official website and in national newspapers. Visit https://careers.kengen.co.ke for job opportunities,” the company stated.

In recent years, fraudsters have increasingly targeted desperate job seekers in Kenya to swindle them through fake job opportunities in well-known companies and agencies.
