"I have never said I am the solution. I cannot be the solution. The solution is one term. And it is unstoppable."

Rigathi Gachagua has fired back at Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga following his remarks that he is not the solution to Kenya’s problems.

Speaking in Bomet on Saturday, July 12, Odinga said that even if Gachagua became president, he would not bring about any meaningful change in the country.

The former Prime Minister called for a national dialogue to deliberate on the issues affecting the nation.

“The time has come for Kenyans to dialogue and deliberate on their issues and identify where the problem is. Solutions can’t be found through demonstrations. We can’t be saying “Ruto must go”, even if he left, that would not be the solution.

“Even if you bring Gachagua, he is not an option. He can’t make a difference. The demonstrators are our kids; let us all engage. From the youth, to women and men,” said Raila.

In a response, Gachagua told Raila that he has never said he is the solution to the problems the country is facing.

Speaking on Sunday during a church service in the US, the former DP reiterated that the solution is to make President Ruto a one-term president.

“I heard him (Raila) saying Riggy G cannot be the solution. I have never said I am the solution. I cannot be the solution. The solution is one term. And it is unstoppable,” Gachagua stated.

The DCP leader also poked holes in Raila’s national conclave proposal, claiming it is a plan to slow down the one-term momentum.

“I heard Raila Odinga saying we should have a national conclave. What has happened is that the old man has been sent by Ruto to create a diversion to slow the one-term momentum,” he stated.

Gachagua accused the ODM leader of thinking only of himself instead of fighting for the people of Kenya.

Further, he pointed out that the two dialogues Raila had held with President Ruto are yet to be implemented.

“You entered a dialogue with Ruto called NADCO, it has not yet been implemented, now you want us to start a new one. The other day, after you lost AU chairmanship, you entered into an MOU with a 10-point agenda, among the things you agreed on was no abductions and killings, but they have increased. The two dialogues you have done with Ruto none has been implemented. Now you want us to go into a third one,” Gachagua added.
