Two people have been reported dead and several others injured following a grisly road accident along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
The collision occurred at the Ngata area in Nakuru County, involving a 14-seater matatu and a trailer loaded with logs.
According to eyewitness reports, the trailer lost control and rammed into the matatu, causing a devastating crash that left passengers trapped beneath the wreckage.
Tragically, a boy was confirmed dead at the scene.
A second person also succumbed to injuries, while at least 10 others sustained severe wounds and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Rescue operations by emergency services and residents were swift, though there are fears the death toll could rise.
The incident caused a significant disruption along the busy highway, forcing police to redirect traffic through the Njoro Interchange as cleanup and investigations continued.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Nakuru City Mortuary.
Residents of the Ngata area have called on authorities to enhance safety measures along the highway, lamenting that their repeated pleas have been ignored despite frequent accidents in the region.
“We have complained about this for a long time. It shouldn’t be a plea at this rate. It’s a necessity. We need service lanes,” one resident told the media.
“Every time I drive through this area, I wear my heart on my sleeve because trailers are parked along the road and you can see several oncoming from a distance.”
In March this year, 13 people lost their lives on the same highway after a trailer driver, experiencing brake failure, lost control and rammed into an 11-seater matatu.
Several victims died on the spot, while others succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment.
The Ngata stretch of the Nakuru-Eldoret highway is widely regarded as a black spot due to frequent fatal crashes.
These crashes have raised renewed concern over road safety and the need for stricter traffic rule enforcement.
