KNBS has launched a year-long nationwide data collection drive for the 2025/26 Kenya Integrated Household Budget Survey (KIHBS).

The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) has launched a year-long nationwide data collection drive for the 2025/26 Kenya Integrated Household Budget Survey (KIHBS).

In a statement on Wednesday, July 16, the bureau said the door-to-door exercise will cover all 47 counties and run from July 16, 2025 to July 15, 2026.

The exercise aims to collect critical household data to support national planning and policy development, as well as track living standards, income distribution, and poverty levels across the country.

According to KNBS, the survey will provide key indicators including demographics, education and health, and fertility and mortality rates.

It also seeks to provide insights on employment and labour conditions, child health and nutrition, housing, water, sanitation and energy use, and household expenditure on consumption.

KNBS said trained enumerators will conduct face-to-face interviews with selected households.

Each enumerator will be equipped with a tablet for data collection and will carry an official KNBS identification badge with a QR Code for authentication.

The enumerators will also carry an introduction letter from the bureau.

The survey will target scientifically selected households, including those in refugee camps; in total, 24,480 households and an additional 960 from refugee camps will participate in the exercise.

KNBS urged the public to support the initiative, assuring participants that all data collected will remain confidential and will be used strictly for statistical purposes.

“We encourage you to support this exercise by providing the data sought. Our commitment is to hold the data collected in strict confidentiality and use it for statistical purposes only,” the bureau stated.
