Uganda and Egypt emerged as champions in the women’s and men’s categories respectively.

Kenya has claimed a podium finish at the 2025 Homeless World Cup in Oslo, securing third place in a spirited display that drew global attention to the transformative power of sport.

The annual tournament concluded with Uganda and Egypt emerging as champions in the women’s and men’s categories ,respectively.

It marked a historic moment for the continent, with both nations clinching their first-ever titles in the competition's history.

Uganda’s women’s team, represented by Youth Sport Uganda, delivered a stunning 6-0 victory over Mexico, ending the latter’s hopes of securing an eighth consecutive title. Stella Namisango was the standout performer, netting five goals, while teammate Eva Nagayi added the sixth.

On the men’s side, Egypt powered through the competition to lift the trophy, making it a double triumph for Africa in this year’s edition.

Kenya’s team, displaying grit and teamwork, battled through the group stages and knockout rounds to earn third place, marking one of the nation’s best finishes in the tournament to date.

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris joined in praising the Kenyan team upon their return, terming the achievement as a ‘remarkable milestone that reflects resilience, talent, and the unyielding spirit of our youth.’

“This inspiring performance on the global stage is more than a sporting milestone; it’s a testament to the transformative power of opportunity, community, and belief,” Passaris said in a statement. “We salute every player, coach, and supporter who made this dream a reality. Your courage and determination have made Kenya proud. Hongera sana.”

The Homeless World Cup, which began in 1999 and now includes both men’s and women’s competitions, is organized annually by the Homeless World Cup Foundation to advocate for the end of homelessness through sport.
