Narok County Director of Education Apollo Apuko has ordered the immediate closure of the institution to allow for thorough investigations.
"We are closing this institution today, and we don't expect any students to be here. We leave the matter to the DCI," Apuko stated, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
Police have arrested the school's security guard in connection with the death, as detectives work to piece together the events that led to the student's fatal injuries.
Residents have expressed their anger and demanded accountability from school authorities. The community's frustration has been compounded by concerns about the institution's security and infrastructure.
"What we want is justice. The boy was only ten years old and he was cut in the neck. We are upset and we need answers," one resident said.
"We have seen a lot of blood. The boy is the mortuary as we speak and we want the school to be closed, we don't expect any children to remain here so we can let the DCI do their investigations," another resident stated.
Beyond seeking justice for the deceased student, community members have also raised concerns about the school's physical infrastructure and security measures.
"This school has no fence, the infrastructure is a bit bad. We are requesting that following the closure, before its opened again, we want to see improvements," another resident said.
Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the student's death, with the case now under the jurisdiction of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
