The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a statement on a payment system hitch that has left many customers unable to complete transactions on its eCitizen platform.

On Wednesday, September 3, frustrated customers flocked to the authority’s social media platforms to complain about the outage.

In response, NTSA acknowledged the issue and assured the public that efforts are underway to restore normal operations.

"We apologize for this, the eCitizen team is working to resolve the issue. We will alert you as soon as the issue is fixed," the authority said.

This comes months after NTSA announced it was experiencing a system downtime affecting its services.

In a statement on Tuesday, March 25, the authority said its technical team was working to resolve the issue and restore the services as soon as possible.

NTSA also apologized to its customers for the inconvenience caused by the system outage.

"Dear esteemed clients, We are currently experiencing a system downtime, and our services are temporarily unavailable. Our technical team is working to resolve the issue and restore full functionality as soon as possible.

"We apologize for any inconveniences caused. Will notify you once the system is back on," the authority said at the time.

Most recently, NTSA announced an 18-hour system maintenance.

In a statement dated Friday, June 20, NTSA said the system update was set to commence at 10 pm and end on Saturday, June 21, at 4 pm.

The authority explained that during the 18-hour exercise, Kenyans would not be able to get the services offered by the authority.

"The Authority plans to conduct scheduled system maintenance from 10 pm, Friday, 20th June 2025, to Saturday, 21st June 2025, 16 pm. During this period, all our services will be intermittently unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience that might be caused as a result of the maintenance," the notice read in part.
