"Deputy Secretary Landau conveyed the US Government's condolence message following the demise of Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve, a gallant Kenyan Police Officer who died in a road crash while on duty in Pétion-Ville, Port au Prince, Haiti.
"The two leaders wished a quick recovery to eight other Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) officers who sustained injuries, paid tribute to those who have given their lives in the pursuit of the mandate of that Mission, and commended all those who continue to serve in the MSS Mission with honor," the statement added.

According to the Office of the PCS, Landau and Mudavadi also acknowledged Kenya’s contribution to the mission and the leadership of President William Ruto.
"They acknowledged the leadership of President Ruto, and Kenya's participation in the MSS Mission predicated on Resolution 2699 of the United Nations Security Council.
"Mudavadi commended the United States of America for the backing they continue to provide in galvanizing international support for the MSS Mission and commitment to increase the technical capabilities of the force," the statement continued.
The leaders also noted the progress made by the MSS in addressing Haiti’s security challenges, but highlighted the need for sustained international support.
"They also concurred that the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) has made significant strides in addressing Haiti's security challenges through enhancement of security operations, supported the Haitian National Police, and prioritised the safety and resumption of learning in schools.
"They noted that the success of the MSS is, however, dependent on the international community's readiness to contribute sufficient and predictable support for the Mission to attain the restoration of peace and security to Haiti and facilitate the necessary political processes to reverse the prevailing situation and set the country on the path of prosperity," the statement further read.
In conclusion, the Office of the PCS noted that Kenya urged the United Nations Security Council to ensure adequate support for ongoing peace efforts in Haiti.
"Kenya calls on the United Nations Security Council to take the political steps in passing the requisite resolutions to ensure that the MSS or any other initiative gets predictable and adequate support to ensure that Haiti achieves the much-needed peace and prosperity. We owe it to Haitians; we owe it to humanity," the statement concluded.
