Kenya Power Announces Power Cuts in 4 Counties on Sunday

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions across four counties on Sunday, September 7.

In a statement on Saturday, September 6, the company said the outages that will affect parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, and Kisumu counties are necessary to facilitate maintenance works.

In Nairobi County, multiple estates and business hubs will be affected. In Babadogo, the outage will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., covering Babadogo, New Kenafric Factory and Old Kenafric Factory.

Rubber Factory, Cussons, Siraj, Kariadudu, Roy Transporters, Chandaria Factory, Regal Pharmaceutical, Impala, E.A Foundry, Babadogo Catholic Church and adjacent customers will also be affected.

Downtown Nairobi will also experience a blackout from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with River Road, Sheikh Karume, Luthuli, Accra Road, Duruma Road, Dubois, part of Kirinyaga Road, Charles Rubia Road and adjacent customers being affected.

Garden Estate is also on the maintenance schedule, where Jewel Ministries, Garden Estate Mall, KBL Offices, Prabaki, GSU Headquarters and surrounding customers will go without electricity between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

In Nairobi West, the power outage will cover part of Muhoho Avenue, Mama Ngina Children’s Home, Muhuti Avenue, part of Ole Shapara Road, Uchumi Road, Heshima Estate, Aljazeera and Five Star Estate.

Other affected areas are Ruby Estate, Halai Estate, Jua Kali Road, Olive Road, St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic, Momon Estate, Midland Court Estate, Fedha Apartments, Parkview Apartments and adjacent customers.

Areas around Kenyatta, Mbagathi, and Kibera will also be affected, with Kenya Power stating that Madaraka Garage, Geomap, Kenyatta Hospital Flats, Mbagathi Way, Ngumo, Kibera Laini Saba, Unduku, Silanga and surrounding customers will experience a blackout from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kajiado County, the outage will affect Isinya Town, Technosteel, Kingsun, Kisaju Plains, Pipeline Road, Enchoroi, Nandonderit, Kisaju Mixed, Inkiito and nearby customers.

In Uasin Gishu County, the affected areas will include the Catholic Diocese, Eldoret Hospital, Daima Towers and adjacent customers, also from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kisumu County, parts of Kisumu Town will be hit by a longer blackout starting at 8:00 a.m. and running until 5:00 p.m. 

The affected areas will include Okore Estate, Obunga, Migosi, Lolwe, Uzima University, Kanyamedha and surrounding customers.
