Motorists have been advised to adhere strictly to the traffic guidance provided by road marshals.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued an urgent advisory to motorists following a pavement collapse on the Muthaiga-Kiambu (B32) Road, causing significant traffic disruptions in the area.

In a notice released on Tuesday, September 9, KeNHA warned road users about the compromised section of the highway between Fourways Junction and St. Mary's School - Runda/Total Petrol Station - Fourways, where the road pavement has given way.

The affected stretch has been cordoned off for safety reasons, with the authority directing motorists to strictly adhere to the traffic guidance provided by marshals deployed to manage the situation.

KeNHA has assured the public that it is actively working to address the current situation on the Muthaiga-Kiambu route and restore normal traffic flow for all road users.

To minimize inconvenience, traffic marshals and police officers have been strategically positioned along the affected section to guide vehicles safely through alternative routes and manage traffic flow during peak hours.

“KeNHA is on site addressing the situation to restore normal traffic flow and safeguard the safety of all road users. Your safety is our priority,” the notice reads in part.

This development comes three days after the authority cautioned drivers about potential risks on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.

Previously, KeNHA issued warnings to motorists using the Nakuru-bound carriageway of the Nakuru–Eldoret (A8) Road at Eveready Roundabout after a sinkhole had developed on the busy highway.

The road agency had indicated that similar problems could resurface, especially during periods of heavy rainfall, and was collaborating with government agencies and geological experts to investigate and develop lasting solutions.

“The Authority, together with other relevant government agencies, will continue monitoring and also conduct an in-depth investigation with the assistance of geologists with a view to addressing the issue accordingly,” the Authority had assured.
