A PSV crashed into a trailer on the busy highway.

At least 13 people have died and others injured after being involved in a grisly road accident.

The crash happened Sunday mid-day, September 28.

A passenger vehicle crashed into a track at a spot near Kariandusi on the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.

Gilgil Sub-County Police Commander Winston Mwakio confirmed the accident.

Members of the public showed up at the scene to help in rescue mission as the police processed it.

As seen in photos captured at the scene, the tractot of the truck involved veered off the road, leaving the body obstructing the road.

The badly crashed 14-seater PSV was pushed to the side of the highway.

At least 13 people were killed on in Gilgil after being involved in an accident.

The accident caused a traffic snarlup with the police at the scene taking charge of the situation.

This would be the second accident on the same highway hours apart.

Another crash involving a St Mary's Ambulance was reported on Saturday evening, September 27, near Kimende, Kiambu County.

The ambulance had 6 people no board, including a driver, a nurse, a patient, her husband, and two relatives, when the incident occurred.

Photos of the accident seen by Nairobileo.co.ke showed the ambulance completely damaged on the front end.

The accident happened a month after another string of carnage that claimed at least 50 lives within 72 hours.

The ill-fated string started on August 7 when a bus ferrying Kenya Pipeline workers was crashed by a cargo train.

Nine people perished on the spot.

Later on August 8, a tragic road accident near the Coptic roundabout in Kisumu County claimed the lives of 26 individuals when a school bus transporting mourners to Nyakach overturned at the notorious blackspot.

Nineteen people died instantly, while seven succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Just a day later, August 9, another fatal crash occurred in Kajiado County, where eight people lost their lives following a collision between a matatu and a lorry near Kitengela. Seven passengers died on the scene.

The string of accidents prompted a reaction from President William Ruto, who sanctioned from the law enforcers and the prosecution of officials who might have slacked in enforcing traffic regulations.
