Police in Malava, Kakamega County, have launched investigations into a dawn fire that gutted a dormitory at Malava Boys High School.
Conforming the incident, Malava OCPD Suleiman Majondo said the fire broke out at around 5 a.m. on Friday, October 3, shortly after students had left their dormitories for early morning studies.
He added that no injuries were reported among the learners.
Majondo confirmed that samples had been collected from the scene for forensic analysis as part of efforts to establish the exact cause of the blaze.
Firefighters from Kakamega County were swiftly deployed to the school, where they battled the flames and managed to contain the inferno before it could spread to adjacent dormitories and other facilities within the compound.

This comes weeks after students of Tengecha Boys High School in Kericho County went on strike and set a dormitory on fire, destroying property of unknown value.
The unrest began at around 9 PM on Tuesday, September 23, when students went on the rampage before they torched one of the dormitories.
The tension sparked concern in the Kapkatet area, prompting the locals to quickly mobilize themselves and rush to the school.
Police officers were also deployed to the institution, and with the help of the locals, they restored order and stopped the unrest from escalating further.

Calm had been restored in Tengecha High School by midnight with police officers patrolling the area.
