Kuria now regards Rigathi Gachagua as Mt Kenya's soon-to-be kingpin and most-listened-to leader.

Former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has given an indication of gravitating toward former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua's camp.

In a tweet Saturday evening, October 11, Kuria regarded Gachagua as Mt Kenya's soon-to-be kingpin, noting that the DCP leader has succeeded in rallying the region behind him.

That Gachagua has become Mt Kenya's go-to leader who is listened to by many, and that soon, he would get the status of substantive Mt Kenya kingpin.

Kuria stated he could consider joining the former deputy president's camp in the near future.

"To my brother Rigathi Gachagua. I am an honest man. By now you know that. It is an undeniable fact that majority of our Mt Kenya people listen to you. You are ahead of the rest of us. You are edging closer to be our undisputed Kingpin in the Mountain. In fact just like Gideon Moi and William Ruto are working together, I might consider working with you very soon," he said.

He however noted that the undoing of Gachagua happens to be his tongue against those who differ with him. The loose tongue is why Kuria has not joined Gachagua, he said.

Moses Kuria urged Rigathi Gachagua to tone down insults on other leaders who differ with him politically.

While speaking in Embu on Saturday, Gachagua went ballistic against the politicians from the region who still align with President William Ruto.

He harshly lashed out at governors Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga) and Cecily Mbarire for remaining in Ruto's camp despite the Mt Kenya region seeming to shift from the president.

Kuria, while reacting to Gachagua's outbursts on the two governors, noted that Gachagua was annulling the progress he has made in designing his political disposition with insults to opponents.

He counselled him to refrain from attacking others, especially female politicians, adding that his status now demands restraint and political maturity.

"I have only one humble request. Kindly refrain from insulting our leaders in general, our women leaders in particular and all Mt Kenya women by extension. Doesn't really sound commensurate with your undisputed kingpin status. Kindly sir. With profound respect!" he said.

Kuria is now warming up to Gachagua after months rivalry. Gachagua had earlier accused him of being Ruto's envoy in Mt Kenya.

The former deputy president claimed Kuria was among those used by the president to divide the populous region.

Kuria fought off the allegations, saying he has the political muscle to stand on his own.

Kuria leads Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party.

He resigned from government in July. Until his resignation, the former Gatundu South MP served as Ruto's senior advisor on matters of economy.

He had previously held minesterial posts; serving as the Cabinet Secretary for Trade and Industry, and later presiding over the Public Service docket.

By joining Gachagua's camp, Kuria will have bolstered the former deputy president's efforts to consolidate the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 vote.
