Former Nyeri Woman Representative, Priscilla Nyokabi, is among the 100 candidates shortlisted by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for appointment as judges of the High Court.
In a statement on Thursday, October 23, the JSC confirmed that it had completed the shortlisting process following a recruitment drive.
The commission revealed that a total of 377 applications were received by the closing date of July 7, 2025, from which 100 candidates were selected for interviews.
"The Commission will communicate the date of the interviews in due course. Members of the public are invited to avail in writing any information of interest in respect to any of the shortlisted candidates.
"Take note that the Commission may interview any member of the Public who has submitted information on any of the shortlisted candidates and such information shall be kept confidential," the commission said.

Other than Nyokabi, other notable candidates include Henry Faraji Chipinde, Patricia Naeku Leparashao, Anne Mary Auma O Kutoyi, Salma Noah Ramadhan, Catherine Akaigwa Kassim, Joseph Kipkoech Biomdo, Judith Chelangat Mutai, Ronald Gordon Rogo, Winnie Narasha Molonko, Ritah Nangila Mukhongo, and Edmond Kiplagat Gichuru.
The list also features well-known judicial officers such as Hon. Esther Kalunde Kimilu, Hon. Yusuf Abdallah Shikanda, Hon. Esther Boke, Hon. David Wanjohi Mburu, Hon. Peter Oduor Ooko, Hon. Harrison Omwima Barasa, Hon. Martha Wanzila Mutuku, Hon. Pamella Achieng Khamoni, and Hon. Anne Wanjiru Mwangi.
Others shortlisted include Hon. Eunice Kagure Nyutu, Hon. Letizia Muthoni Wachira Rwiga, Hon. Mwangi Karimi Mwangi, Hon. Nathan Shiundu Lutta, Brian Pratt Ayodo, Jacqueline Mbithe Mwinzi Muindi, Silviah Kawira Nyaga, Hon. Beatrice Muthoni Kimemia, Hon. Thomas Thyaka Nzyoki, and Hon. Felix Mutinda Kombo.

Also in the pool are Hon. Richard Kipkemoi Koech, Hon. Lucas Onyango Onyina, Michael Odewy Ogallo Sangoro, Hon. James Njuguna Mwaniki, Hon. Alex Kimanzi Ithuku, Hon. Francis Nyungu Kyambia, Hon. The JSC also named Edward Murithi Rinkanya, Hon. Elizabeth Katiwa Usui, Hon. Barbara Achieng Ojoo, Hon. Joyce Mkambe Gandani, Hon. Josephat Burudi Kalo, Hon. Paul Kipkosgei Rotich, Regina Tumaini Wafula, and Hon. Roseline Akinyi Oganyo among the shortlisted.

The final group of shortlisted individuals includes Dr. Andrew Barney Wanjala Khakula, Dominic Kipkemoi Rono, Dr. Nabil Mokaya Orina, Andrew Chege Waitara, Geoffrey Oluoch Yogo, Colbert Ouma Ojiambo, Elizabeth Achieng Agutu, George Chengasia Murunga, Martin Otieno Obuo, Benard Wafula Murunga, Wafulah Jimmy Simiyu, Conrad Mugoya Bosire, Bruce Odiwuor Okombo Odeny, John Kimathi Marcelino, Jared Omari Mituga, Sylvester Ngacho Mukele, Philip Kamidi Mtange, Gad Kipkirui Chemoiyai, Robert Kenneth Macharia, and Vincent Kibichii Kiptoon.
Before joining active politics, Nyokabi served as the Executive Director of Kituo cha Sheria, a legal aid institution that provides free legal services to marginalized communities.
She also served as a Complaints Commissioner at the Media Council of Kenya, where she helped enforce ethical standards and accountability within the media industry.
Regionally, Nyokabi represented Kenya as the Deputy Presiding Officer for Eastern Africa at the African Union’s Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU ECOSOCC).
In 2013, Nyokabi ventured into elective politics and was elected as the first Woman Representative for Nyeri County under the Jubilee coalition.
During her term in Parliament, she served on several influential committees, including the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee where she was Vice-Chairperson, the Budget and Appropriations Committee, and the House Business Committee.
She also chaired Caucus 47, an umbrella body representing all County Women Representatives, and served as an executive committee member of the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA).
After leaving Parliament in 2017, she continued her public service journey and was appointed as a Commissioner at the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) in August 2018.
