The Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has once again issued a fraud alert following the circulation of a job advertisement claiming to offer employment opportunities at the power-generating firm.
On Saturday, November 8, the company issued a notice warning the public about a fraudulent job advertisement circulating on WhatsApp that purports to be from KenGen.
The fake notice, which bears the company's letterhead and logo, lists various positions including Maintenance Technician (40 vacancies), Electrical Technician (30 vacancies), Financial Accountant (12 vacancies), Customer Service Representative (15 vacancies), Data Entry Clerk (10 vacancies), Trainer of Trainees (18 vacancies), Interns (20 vacancies), Registered Nurse (8 vacancies), Store Manager (15 vacancies), Drivers (10 vacancies), Security Guards (18 vacancies), and Cleaners (22 vacancies).
The fraudulent advert instructs interested candidates to send their applications via email to [email protected] by November 11, 2025.
However, KenGen has emphasized that the advert is not authentic and urged members of the public to exercise caution.

"Beware of fraudulent job adverts circulating on WhatsApp claiming to be from us," KenGen stated on its official social media platforms. The company reiterated that all legitimate job vacancies are only published on its official website at careers.kengen.co.ke.
In June, the company also issued a similar warning after a fake job advertisement bearing its name circulated online, claiming to offer 200 employment positions across different departments. At the time, KenGen urged the public to verify any job vacancies through the company's website and verified social media platforms.
"All vacancies are posted on kengen.co.ke and through our verified platforms and official communication channels," the company stated in its June notice.
The power-generating firm has advised job seekers to remain vigilant and only apply for positions through official channels to avoid falling victim to employment scams.
