The Technical University of Kenya (TUK) has issued a fresh announcement to its students ahead of the 14th graduation ceremony.

The Technical University of Kenya (TUK) has issued a fresh announcement to its students ahead of the 14th graduation ceremony, setting new deadlines for clearance and payment.

In a statement on Wednesday, November 12, the university confirmed that its 14th graduation ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, November 25, at the university’s graduation square.

The institution has urged graduands to attend the event in person, while family and friends can follow the proceedings online via the official website and the University’s social media platforms on YouTube, X and Facebook.

In the notice, the university emphasized that all prospective graduands must complete their clearance and payment processes by Monday, November 17.

"To be cleared for graduation, the prospective graduands must fulfill the following requirements by Monday, 17th November 2025: Settle all outstanding fee balances through the eCitizen platform only, complete the online clearance process via the Student Portal (https://portal.tukenya.ac.ke), and fulfill all academic and administrative requirements," the announcement reads.

The institution further noted that students who missed previous graduation ceremonies due to fee arrears or other reasons can still be included in the upcoming cohort.

"Students who missed previous graduation ceremonies due to fee arrears or other reasons are required to log into the Student Portal, initiate the ‘Alternative Reinstatement’ process, and complete all the necessary steps by the stated deadline to be included in the graduating class," the notice added.

Graduands are also required to pay a mandatory, non-refundable convocation fee through eCitizen.

The university stated that the fees are set at Ksh5,000 for Certificate, Diploma, and Bachelor’s degree holders, and Ksh6,500 for Postgraduate graduands.

Additionally, academic regalia will be available for collection between Wednesday, November 19, and Friday, November 21, from respective Department Chairpersons’ offices.

All regalia must be returned by Monday, December 1, with a penalty of Ksh100 per day for late returns.

The university also announced that attendance at the graduation rehearsal is mandatory for all graduands who will participate in the ceremony.

"The graduation rehearsal will be held on Monday, 24th November 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Graduation Square. All participants must be seated by 9:00 a.m., and the dress code is full academic attire," the university stated.

TUK has also cautioned students to verify their names as they appear on the graduation certificates to avoid discrepancies.

"The names on graduation certificates will appear exactly as in the original admission documents. Graduands are strongly advised to verify their details online during the clearance process," the university said, adding that it will not be responsible for unreported errors.

This comes barely a day after the university announced the resumption date for all students following the conclusion of the recent staff strike that had disrupted academic activities.

In a memo dated Monday, November 10, by the Academic Registrar, Moses Wakoli, the university confirmed that normal learning will resume on Wednesday, November 12.

"Following the end of the industrial action by the University Academic Staff Union (UASU) and the Kenya University Staff Union (KUSU) on Monday 10th November, 2025, the University hereby notifies all students that they are required to resume classes effective Wednesday, 12th November 2025, starting at 7:00 a.m," the memo read.

The university also released a new schedule to guide learning for the rest of the academic year which has been published on its website.

"A revised academic calendar for the 2025/2026 Academic Year has been published on the University's official website and other authorized communication platforms," the memo added.

Additionally, the university reminded students to meet all administrative obligations before attending classes and examinations.

"All students are required to clear any outstanding fee balances and complete their registration to be eligible for class attendance and examinations," the memo further read.

According to the university, the academic calendar has been slightly adjusted to make up for the time lost during the strike period.

"End-of-semester examinations will commence after twelve (12) weeks of teaching. The 13th week, previously designated for revision, has been removed from the academic calendar," the memo stated.

The Academic Registrar further clarified that the changes have received full approval from the institution’s top academic organ.

"The revised academic calendar, approved by the University Senate, is binding on all diploma and undergraduate students as well as staff. Any alterations must receive prior written approval from the Senate," the memo read.

Finally, for students currently engaged in external programs, the university said they should report back to school next year.

"Students currently participating in industry-based learning will resume classes at the commencement of the Second Semester on February 23, 2026," the memo concluded.
