Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, on the morning of Monday, November 17, conducted a door-to-door campaign for Mbeere North aspirant Newton Karish.
In a statement via X, Gachagua said he combined his routine early morning walks and visiting the Mbeere North locals to hold one-on-one conversations.
“My morning walk through mango farms in Mbeere North has been nothing but an exhilarating breath taking.
“I combined my pursuit for good health with one-on-one campaign for Newton Karish, my candidate of choice for the Mbeere North parliamentary bye-election. I met my fellow villagers in homes to commission door to door campaign,” said Gachagua.
The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader noted that he was encouraged by the response he received from the locals.

Further, Gachagua said he will be camping in Mbeere North for the 9 days, listening to and engaging the locals ahead of the by-elections.
“I am very encouraged by the response and assistance from the residents that they cannot sell their vote no matter the price.
“For the next 9 days, I am on the ground, listening and engaging the people of Mbeere North,” added Gachagua.
Karish, who is running on a Democratic Party of Kenya (DP) ticket, will face UDA’s Leonard Muthende in the by-election scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025.
On Sunday, Gachagua called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to take action against Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire and Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku over allegedly interfering with political campaigns.
The former DP accused the two leaders of disrupting his campaign meetings in Mbeere North.
"The IEBC needs to take action against Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, Governor Cecily Mbarire, and the UDA candidate, Leo Wamuthende, for gatecrashing our meetings. The electoral code of conduct disallows a candidate from storming into another candidate's meeting," he said.
The Mbeere North seat fell vacant after Ruku was appointed by President William Ruto on March 26 to serve as a Cabinet Secretary.
CS Ruku replaced Justin Muturi, who was fired after falling out with President Ruto.
