Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across eight counties, including Nairobi and Murang'a, on Wednesday.

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across eight counties on Wednesday, December 10.

In a notice on Tuesday, December 9, the company said the interruptions are part of routine network maintenance works.

In Nairobi County, residents in several estates will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas affected include parts of Parklands covering 1st, 2nd and 3rd Parklands, Doctors Park, Batu Batu Estate, Masari Road, Sivachi Road, Dovu Lane, Mwanzi Road, Ring Road, part of Mpaka Road, and nearby customers. 

Mwiki Township and its surrounding areas, Maji Mazuri, Kenyatta Farm, Mwiki Police, Nyawai Secondary, and Mwiki Good Hope School, will also be affected during the same period. 

Parts of Lang’ata, including Deliverance, Mbagathi Road, Akila II, Airport View Estate, Jonathan Clog, AP Uhuru Camp, Nairobi West Prison, Dam View Estate, Amref, Canaan Estate, Montezuma Funeral Home, Mbagathi Hospital, Defence Memorial Hospital, Texas Cancer Center, Qwetu Mbagathi Way, Akiba, Hamayun, KMTC, Kenyatta National Hospital Staff Quarters and adjacent areas, will also be without power throughout the day.

In Kajiado County, a wide stretch covering Kitengela, Namanga Road, Kisaju and Isinya will face outages from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Establishments set to be affected include Danka, Ideal, Mugai, Acacia, Enkasiti Resort, Maasai Ostrich Farm, Riverine, Global Village, Alexander Forbes, Lake Oil Korompoi, Marvel Green, Succos, Kajiado East Technical, Jumbo Tank, Kreative Concrete, Zenith Steel, Imara Steel, Eden Park and surrounding customers.

Kakamega County’s Shinyalu region will also be hit by a power interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas listed include Virembe Market, Rodho Hotel, Kisa Market, Chirovani Market, Maluna Primary, Mukhuru Market, Mukhuru Primary, Ileho Market and adjacent consumers.

In Migori County, Uriri and neighbouring areas will be off the grid between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. 

This includes Lwala, Merry Orphanage, Uriri, Ramuoma, Pe-Hill, Mariwa, Mulo, Malunga, Oyani Masai, Ulanda, Rabuor, Onyalo Biro, Ogwedhi, Sagegi and surrounding villages.

In Nyamira, Keroka Town, including Keroka Hospital, Keroka Shell, Keroka Police Station, Regnol Petrol Station, Shivling, Shivshakti and Wisdom Plaza, will experience power cuts from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

In Homa Bay County, the entire Homa Bay Town area will be affected alongside Olare Market, Nyangweso Market, Samanga Centre, Kadel Market, Homahills, Imbo Market, Rangwe Market, Asumbi Market, Mission Schools and nearby users.

Murang’a County will see multiple outages running from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Karugia, Kiamara, Mugeci Kaboro, Kiawanduma, Yakarengo and Ruiru Primary. 

Other impacted regions include Kirichu, Gachika, Kanuna, Ndurutu Market, Kang’ong’a Village, Gladstone Resort, Lilly Farm and Comfort Hotel. Parts of Kiawara and Nairutia, including Lachuta, Lamuria, Bellevue, Kabendera, Ruirie, Kariminu, Tanyai, Mugunda, Ngobit, Kariguini, Mahiga Meru and Matopeni, will also experience power outages. 

Additionally, Kiawarigi Taplins, Itiati Market, Gitunduti, General China, Gathuini, Kihuri, Kianjuguma, Itiati Safaricom Booster, Kihuro, and Kangurwe Primary School will lose electricity supply from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kitui County, parts of Kamulewa, Yumbu and Mathuki will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Affected areas include Enziu Secondary, Kamulewa Dispensary, Yumbu Market and Dispensary, Yumbu Farm, Kavaliki Primary, Kalitini Primary, Mathuki Market, Kyume, Mwambuni Primary and neighbouring homes and institutions.
