Nairobi County has started a feeding program for residents who have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Acting County Governor Anne Kananu said the feeding program is geared towards helping those in the informal settlements.
"Through the disaster management sector we have constituted a technical team to run the Covid-19 disaster management feeding program that will go a long way in saving the people of Nairobi especially the less fortunate, people living with disability and people in an informal settlement," Kananu said
"We have started the COVID-19 feeding program that will go for the next three months and we will be doing it on Saturday and Sundays."
Three weeks ago President Uhuru Kenyatta imposed a partial lockdown in the county after the country's positivity rate increased to 22 percent, a 20 percent increase since January 2021.

Nairobi was leading in coronavirus cases, with six in 10 people testing positive.
The partial lockdown also included Kajiado, Machakos, Nakuru, and Kiambu counties.
Uhuru also banned public gatherings and the dawn to dusk curfew was revised to 8 p.m - 4 a.m in the 5 counties.
