Members of Parliament took a moment from their packed schedules to pay their last respects to former Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange who passed on in March 2021.
They described the late law maker as an astute leader and one with impartial judgement once presented with an issue that required his intervention.
The former MP is a grandson of the late Chief Mbiyu Koinange and cousins to Citizen TV Journalist Jeff Koinange and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"Koinange was a chairman of sorts not only at Security committee but also as chair of Prayer Breakfast and BBI express.
“We worked very closely in the campaign where we sought to ensure people understand the BBI,” Limuru MP Peter Mwathi eulogised.

Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali described the fallen MP as a friend and also as a leader he had a close working relationship with.
“Sometimes we get disturbed. If I had an opportunity to pick people who should go, we have many candidates. Koinange was a good man and a serious Christian.
“He was friendly to everybody. Even in his position of chair of BBI express, his expression of BBI was not like we see here,” Washiali said.
“Most of us who were scared that death can follow a good leader like Koinange. He was a peace lover and very hardworking. I visited his constituency and people were happy with his work,” Imenti South MP Murungi Kathuri added, noting that Koinange represented his constituents and the country with zeal.
Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma stated that Koinange was a fair and impartial leader, adding that the August house would be a very happy place if all committee chairs were as fair as the late MP.
“He recognized leading the committee together with other members. His passed on when we were transacting the Narcotics bill; I would request that we fast track the bill.”
“What I would pray is that the House and the leadership of the nation gives us a chairman who will further the things that Koinange stood for,” Kaluma said.
Several other members of parliament paid tribute to the late MP, while comforting and condoling with Koinange's friends and family.
