The National Treasury has set aside money to refurbish State House Nairobi and all other State Lodges.

The National Treasury has set aside Ksh86 million in the 2021/2022 financial year for the refurbishment of State House, Nairobi.

According the financial estimate provided by Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani, the facelift will cost in excess of Ksh127 million heading into the 2022/23 fiscal calendar.

The CS noted that the general cost of the general facelift will cost Ksh111 million, which is expected to increase through to Ksh172 million for the 2023/24 fiscal year.

Yatani revealed that an upgrade of specialised plants, equipment and machinery at the State residence will cost Ksh45 million in 2023/24.

The Sagana State Lodge will be refurbished at Ksh21 million and a similar amount set aside for its maintenance.

The Mombasa and Nakuru state lodges will be refurbished at a combined Ksh40 million.

Yatani, however, did not list the Kisii and Kakamega State Lodges for facelifts, as the former was recently refurbished. The Kisii State Lodge formerly served as the county commissioner's residence.

The Treasury CS is expected to table the largest ever budget, approximated at Ksh3.6 trillion before Parliament in June 2021.
