Ruto explained that the money was a show of his goverments gratitude to the pupils and students.


All schools that reached the final of the 2026 Music Festivals and performed for President William Ruto at the 98th Kenya Music Festival State Concert will receive Ksh5 million each.

Speaking at the Bungoma State Lodge on Friday.August 14, Ruto announced the ptize money, and directed the Ministry of Education to ensure that all participating schools received the capitation.

He explained that the money was a show of his goverments gratitude to the pupils and students.

"As an appriciation for your commitment, hardwork and talent, the Ministry of Education will provide Ksh5 million for every institution and school.

"You can improve on some of the infrastructure that will support these creatives going into the futureso that the music and creative space improves," Ruto directed.

Meanwhile, the Head of State asked Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to coordinate the establishment of the Kenya National Talent Search.

The forum will be a joint venture of the givernment and the private sector and will be used to identify and nurture talented Kenyans. It would operate throughout the year to enable the spotting of talent outside the music and drama festivals, and sports cometitions

"The government, working with the private sector, will therefore establish the Kenya National Talent Search to identify talent and innovation in music, comedy, acting, poetry, film, dance, sport, and other fields throughout the year and in every part of Kenya,” Ruto stated.

Meanwhile. he proposed that schools should adopt the 'Kenya Beyond 2030' as a theme for future creative events and competitions.

The President also directed that from 2027, students and institutions which emerge top in the Kenya Science and Engineering Fair wil present their projects in State House.

He explained that for decades, budding scientists and engineers had not beeen properly recognised for their achievements in their respective fields.

Ruto added that innovation was among the essential skills that need to be harnessed even as the country embarks on Beyond Vision 2030.
