Oliver Jaoko, alias Olivetti, who serves as a security aide to Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, has been presented to police after the National Police Service (NPS) directed him to surrender over the violence witnessed during the Linda Mwananchi rally in Homa Bay.
Jaoko was presented at Muthaiga Police Station on Tuesday, August 18, after officers at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters declined to receive him, claiming they were unaware of the directive.
"We arrived at DCI Headquarters to present Oliver Jaoko (alias Olivetti) as previously directed. However, officers stated they were unaware of the directive and refused to receive him. Consequently, we presented him at Muthaiga Police Station," Siaya Governor James Orengo said.
Orengo also called on the police to investigate all individuals suspected of organizing and financing the violence during the Homa Bay rally.
"The police must remain impartial and take swift action to arrest the organizers and financiers of the violence unleashed against us in Homa Bay," he added.

Babu who also accompanied Jaoko to the DCI headquarters, demanded the arrest of Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma over the chaos.
"The police should arrest Gladys Wanga and Peter Kaluma for sponsoring goons to attack members of Team Linda Mwananchi. The Inspector General of Police must explain why they want to arrest those who were attacked while the attackers are left free. Wonders will never end," he stated.

The NPS had on Monday, August 17, directed Jaoko to surrender to the nearest police station, saying he was wanted to assist with investigations into the violence.
"The NPS is pursuing Oliver Jaoko, alias "Olivetti," who is currently at large, and directs him to surrender to the nearest police station to assist with ongoing investigations.
"Operations to apprehend him and all other individuals involved in the violence are continuing," the service said in a statement.
The directive followed an earlier operation by the DCI in which 15 suspected members of a criminal gang were arrested while travelling in three vehicles along the Kisumu-Kericho highway on Saturday night, August 15.
According to the DCI, Jaoko was among the suspects intercepted during the operation and was believed to have been leading the group before escaping.
"As the operation unfolded, one suspect, identified as Oliver Jaoko a.k.a. Oliveti and believed to have been leading the group, made a daring escape by jumping through a vehicle window," the DCI said in their statement.
During the operation, the suspects were found aboard a grey Toyota Noah, registration number KCR 790A, and two white Toyota Hiace vans, registration numbers KDM 377M and KDE 819U.
The two vans were operating under the Nyakija Classic Shuttle along the Kisumu-Migori route.
Police said a search of the vehicles and those arrested recovered several mobile phones and an assortment of weapons and other items.
The items included machetes and pangas, knives, ropes, a metal rod or club and other materials suspected to have been intended for criminal activities.
