UDA Party has cancelled its grassroots elections held at two polling centres in Garsen Central Ward following disruptions and reported irregularities during the exercise.
In a statement on Thursday, August 20, the party said the affected polling centres are Kipao Primary School and Kipao Secondary School.
"This is to formally notify all concerned Members, Voters, Candidates, Party Officials and other Stakeholders that the Grassroots Elections conducted at Kipao Primary School and Kipao Secondary School Polling Centers in Garsen Central Ward have been cancelled due to disruptions and reported irregularities that affected the orderly and credible conduct of the exercise," the statement read.
UDA explained that the repeat election was necessary to protect the integrity and credibility of the electoral process.
The party announced that the affected elections will be repeated on Saturday, August 22, with voting scheduled to run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

"To safeguard the integrity, transparency and credibility of the electoral process, the National Elections Board has determined that the affected elections shall be repeated on Saturday, 22nd August 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m," the statement added.

UDA has called on candidates, supporters and voters to maintain peace and discipline during the repeat polls, warning that actions that could interfere with the exercise would not be tolerated.
"All candidates, supporters and voters are urged to maintain peace, order and discipline throughout the exercise. Any form of intimidation, violence, disruption, voter interference or other conduct likely to undermine the electoral process will not be tolerated," the statement further read.
UDA has also asked all stakeholders to work with officials overseeing the repeat exercise to ensure the polls are conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner.
"All stakeholders are therefore requested to cooperate fully with the officials overseeing the repeat election and to ensure that the exercise is conducted in a free, fair, peaceful and transparent manner," the statement concluded.
Elsewhere, this comes days after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua dismissed reports that he directed Mathira residents to block UDA agents from accessing polling stations in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on Wednesday, August 19, the DCP leader clarified that he said the UDA party will have no one to be their agent in the constituency.
Gachagua explained that they will persuade everyone in Mathira and the Mt Kenya region to be on their side and vote against President Ruto.
"What I said, and I want to explain and emphasize, is that in this area, we will persuade everybody to vote against Ruto and support our side to the extent that he will have no agents. When he looks for people to represent him at the polling stations, he will find that there is nobody willing to do so.
"That is what we are going to do. We are not saying that we will block his agents; we are saying that when he tries to ask who will be his agent, everybody will decline," he explained.
