Cleophas Malala has alleged a plan to replace IG Douglas Kanja with his Deputy, Eliud Lagat.

The Deputy Party Leader for the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), Cleophas Malala, has alleged a plan to replace Inspector General Douglas Kanja with his Deputy, Eliud Lagat.

Speaking in Kamukunji on Tuesday, August 25, Malala claimed that Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen was behind the sinister plot.

He added that Murkomen and Interior Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo allegedly plan to not only deploy goons across the country, but also ensure that the matter gets out of hand.

Malalah added that the endgame is to get Kenyans to demand IG Kanja's resignation, and relieve the police boss from his duties.

"Kanja, Murkomen and PS Omollo are using goons so that Kenyans can start protesting and calling for your resignation. They will then claim that it is the people who demanded your removal from office," he alleged.

The DCP Deputy Leader further claimed that the plan is to make sure that by the time Kenya goes into the election, Lagat, who is from President William Ruto's community, is in charge of law enforcement.

He warned that Kenyans will not allow the President, Interior CS and the National Police Service to all come from one community ahead of a highly contested election.

"We want to tell you, Murkomen, even if Kanja goes home, we will not go to an election with the President, CS and IG from the same community," Malala added.

He reiterated earlier claims by Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua that Ruto plans to postpone the 2027 General Election and extend his term.

"Ruto knows that the Constitution allows the postponement of an election in two circumstances: if there is a pandemic and if there is civil unrest,"

"He tried the first option by bringing the Ebola quarantine facility in Laikipia. Ruto wants to create an outbreak so that he can postpone the election, but that will not work," Malalah added.

Earlier, Gachagua had alleged a fresh plot by the Kenya Kwanza Government to manipulate the 2027 election.

He claimed that Ruto, Mining CS Hassan Joho and Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Vice Chair Fahima Abdalla had a proxy company, which they would use to bid for a tender to provide the Commission with an election management system.
