KPLC Announces Power Cuts in 10 Counties on Thursday

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across 10 counties on Thursday, August 27.

In a notice on Wednesday, August 26, the company said the outages will affect Nairobi, Kisumu, Migori, Murang’a, Laikipia, Marsabit, Kiambu, Kitui and Mombasa counties. 

In Nairobi County, power interruptions will affect Imara Daima from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas listed include Maziwa Stage, M-Gas Mukuru Depot, Villa Police Station, Wapewape Road, Embakasi Girls, Muindi Mweusi Shopping Market, Mukuru kwa Njenga, Chaminade, and St. Mary’s Hospital Mukuru kwa Njenga.

Others are Kware Police Post, Mukuru kwa Njenga Primary, Kware Statehouse, Pipeline Chairmans, Muindi Mweusi Supermarket Pipeline and part of Plot 10.

Kilimani and Ngong Road will also experience an interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected locations include part of Ngong Road, Muchai Drive, Coptic Hospital, China Centre, Kabarnet Road, School of Nursing, City Oil, National Oil, Uchumi, Ngong Road Hotel, Bishop Magua, part of Kindaruma, and China City.

The third Nairobi interruption will cover Oloitoktok Road and Oledume Road between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. 

Areas listed include part of Oloitoktok Road, Oledume Road, Argwings Khodhek Road, Elgeyo Marakwet Road, Kilimani Road, Ngong Road, Methodist Guest House, Muringa Road, Demi Road, Kirichwa Road, Menelik Road, and Quickmart Kilimani.

Nairobi Women Hospital, Green House, Double Tree Hotel, Quivers Kilimani, KISM Offices, Royal Square, Faulu Bank, Dolube Catholic Church, Suna Road, UDA Offices, Demi Close, Kindaruma Road, Adams Arcade and Kilungu Road will also be affected.

In Kisumu County, the KESREF and Great Lakes University areas will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The interruption will affect Great Lakes University, Kianja, KESREF, Angira and Ndugu Transport.

In Migori County, Kehancha and Taranganya will experience an interruption from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected areas include the whole of Kehancha Town, Taranganya, Kobinto, Ntimaru, Anatta, Bongibo, Igena Itambe and Getonganya.

Residents and businesses in Gakurwe, Mugeka, Gaturi and Mukurwe in Murang’a County are scheduled to experience an outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The areas listed include Gakurwe Market, Mugeka Market, Gaturi CCM, Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga, Kaweru and Githundi.

In Laikipia County, power will be interrupted in Chumvi and Doldo from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected locations include Chumvi, Olkinyei, Kiwanja Ndege, Doldo Boys Secondary, Doldo Market, Picha, Ilporei, Kimanju, Ewaso, Ndugu za Nguni and Oldonyiro.

In Marsabit County, the whole of Moyale Town and Butiye will experience a power interruption from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The listed affected areas include Moyale Town, Manyatta, Sessi and Border Point.

In Kiambu County, residents and businesses in Komo, Munyu and Magana will experience an interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected locations include Komo Market, Githima, Munyu Girls, Sewage, Juja Farm Mukuyu-Ini, Juja Farm Athi Shopping Centre, Magajo, Muguga Kwa Simon, Maria Magdalene, and Munyu Market.

Others are Magana Primary, Bagathi, Kwa Hato, Juja Farm Oasis, Kwa Ruhi, Juja Farm Kwa Murage, St. Michael Girls, Juwanita School, Legorn Feed and Bara Inya.

Another interruption in Kiambu will affect Carbacid, Kimende and Gitithia from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas listed include Gitithia, Carbacid, Rukuma, Kambaa, Kimende, Escarpment, Magina, Gichiengo, Soko Mjinga, Kirasha, Kwa Edward and Sulmac.

In Kitui County, Kamathiitu and Musosya Secondary will experience an interruption from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected locations include Kamathiitu, Musosya Secondary and Ngoru Primary.

In Mombasa County, Changamwe, Magongo and Port Reitz will experience an interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The listed areas include Changamwe CBD, Port Rietz Hospital, PS 12, Magongo, Chaani and Migadini.
