Arati claimed that Ruto was more merciful than former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kisii Governor Simba Arati has defended President Ruto's re-election amid claims that he does not deserve a second term because many Kenyans were killed under his administration.

Speaking on Tuesday, September 8, Arati argued that the narrative will not hold water in 2027, because civilian deaths had been witnessed in most, if not all, governments.

He sensationally claimed that Ruto was more merciful than his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta. Arati claimed that scores of Kenyans were killed under Uhuru's regime, especially the late Raila Odinga supporters.

"They claim that people have died under Ruto's government. Tell me, which government has not killed Kenyans? In fact, Uhuru's government killed very many people.

"Ruto is abused every day, but he does nothing. If you insulted Uhuru, his then Minister of Interior would send Subarus to your home," Arati stated.

However, the Governor, who also doubles as the ODM Deputy Party Leader, maintained that he did not condone the killings or abductions.

"We condemn all the killings, even from the previous government, and we do not justify them. We want it to end," he reiterated.

Arati slammed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over claims that the only way he would work with Ruto is if ODM left the government. He accused him of propagating hate and being selfish.

The Kisii Governor reckoned that the country belonged to all Kenyans, who had an equal opportunity to lead the country. He reiterated that ODM would not work with him.

Earlier, Gachagua claimed that he had no interest in working with ODM because it was a shell of the huge party it once was. He sensationally stated that Linda Mwananchi had taken over the party, while he had won ODM's support in the Maa Region.

During his USA trip, the DCP Leader sensationally claimed that if Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed, COTU Boss Francis Atwoli and Prof Makau Mutua joined the United Opposition, he would go back to President William Ruto.

"If I hear that Junet, Atwoli and Mutua have left Kasongo and come to our side, I will immediately switch back to Kasongo because Kasongo will win once these people leave him,” Gachagua said.
