Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has predicted that one of the principals in the United Opposition will walk away before the 2027 General Election.  

Speaking on Sunday, September 27, during an engagement with Kenyans living in Dallas, Texas, USA, Gachagua said the opposition will settle on a single presidential candidate, but one of the principals would leave. 

The DCP Party leader noted that his prediction is based on his experience and understanding of Kenya’s political landscape. 

“I want to prophesy today, not because I am a prophet, but based on experience, foresight and understanding of the Kenyan political scene that history would repeat itself. 

“One single presidential candidate will be announced, one person will go away, and that person will go away on his own,” Gachagua predicted.

The former DP said he would not be the principal who will leave the coalition, pledging to remain in the alliance and support the agreed-upon opposition flag bearer.

Gachagua further expressed confidence that the coalition’s eventual candidate would win the 2027 election with more than 75 percent of the vote.

“The single presidential candidate will be elected by over 75 percent of the Kenyan vote. Riggy G will be part of the winning team because he will not be the fellow who will walk away. 

“He will stick with the arrangement that has been agreed on by the people of Kenya,” added Gachagua. 

His remarks come weeks after he announced he is willing to deputize Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna in the 2027 Election.

The DCP party leader said the united opposition is open to different combinations ahead of next year’s election. 

“There is no problem; even I, Riggy G, can deputize Sifuna. Is there anything wrong with that? 

“Even Sifuna can deputize me. Sifuna can deputize Kalonzo or Kalonzo can deputize Sifuna,” Gachagua said. 

The former DP also hinted at a possible opposition combination of a youthful politician and an experienced one. 

“I have looked at the arithmetic, and we will come up with a formula that you will like. I see a solution where we can blend youthful energy with experience for our country,” Gachagua stated.
