In an advertisement on Tuesday, September 29, TSC Chairperson Jamleck Muturi invited qualified candidates to apply for the position.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Article 250 (12) of the Constitution and Section 16 (1) of the Act, the Commission is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the position of the Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, who in performance of the functions and duties of office, shall be responsible to the Commission,” read the advert in part.
To qualify for the TSC CEO role, applicants are required to be of Kenyan Citizenship, hold a degree in education from a university recognized in Kenya, and have at least ten years’ experience in education, administration and management, public administration, human resource or financial management.
The applicants are also required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

The successful applicant will hold office for a term of five years but shall be eligible for re-appointment for one further term of five years.
The CEO will be head of the secretariat, accounting officer of the Commission and custodian of all records of the Commission.
The TSC CEO will also be responsible for executing decisions of the Commission, assigning duties to and supervising the staff of the Commission and facilitating, coordinating and ensuring the execution of the Commission’s mandate.
The TSC CEO will earn a gross salary of Ksh 698,600 per month, a Ksh 15,000 monthly airtime allowance and a Ksh 50,000 annual leave allowance.
The CEO will also be provided with an official car with an engine capacity not exceeding 3000cc and a medical cover.
Further, the CEO will be provided with a mortgage of up to Ksh30 million and a car loan of Ksh 6 million.

The deadline for submitting the applications is on Friday, October 30, 2026.
This comes weeks after President William Ruto officially appointed Antonina Lentoijoni and Wilson Sossion as members of TSC.
According to a gazette notice dated Monday, August 31, Lentoijoni and Sossion will serve for a period of six years.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 250 (2) of the Constitution as read with section 8 (10) of the Teachers Service Commission Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint Antonina Lentoijoni, Wilson Sossion, to be Members of the Teachers Service Commission, for a period of six (6) years," the notice read.
The two were vetted and approved by the National Assembly Education Committee, where they appeared on Thursday, August 20, and responded to questions on teacher promotions, welfare, staffing, and the relationship between the TSC and the Ministry of Education.
