UDA Announces New Date for Mombasa Ward Elections

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has postponed its Ward-Level Elections in Mombasa County, moving the exercise from Saturday, October 3 to Thursday, October 8.

In a statement on Tuesday, September 29, the party said the change affects polling center officials intending to contest for ward-level positions as well as party members, leaders and other stakeholders involved in the elections.

"The UDA National Elections Board hereby notifies all Polling Center Officials intending to contest forWard-Level positions and informs all Party Members, Leaders and Stakeholders that the Ward-Level Elections in Mombasa County, previously scheduled for Saturday, 3rd October 2026, have been postponed," the statement read.

The National Elections Board said the elections will now be held on October 8, with polling scheduled to run for nine hours.

"Accordingly, the Ward-level Elections in Mombasa County shall now be conducted on Thursday, 8th October 2026, from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m," the statement added.

UDA attributed the postponement to ongoing official activities taking place during the original election period.

"This adjustment is due to the ongoing Presidential Development Tour and the related official engagements taking place during this period," the statement explained.

The party asked polling center officials who intend to contest for ward-level positions to take note of the revised date and make the necessary preparations ahead of the elections.

"All polling center officials intending to contest for ward-level positions in Mombasa County are requested to take note of this change and make the necessary arrangements," the statement further read.

This comes a day after UDA announced the date for its party nominations to select a candidate for the Migwani Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in Mwingi West, Kitui County.

In a notice on Monday, September 28, the party said interested aspirants can apply for the nomination through its online portal.

"Notice is hereby given that the United Democratic Alliance Party Nomination shall be held on Friday, 9th October 2026. Interested Aspirants are invited to apply for nomination by registering through the UDA party portal accessible at www.uda.ke," the notice read.

The party also announced the registration period for aspirants seeking to participate in the nomination exercise.

"The Registration Period shall commence on Monday, 28th September 2026, and close on Tuesday, 29th September 2026, at 5.00 p.m," the notice added.

UDA directed all interested aspirants to begin the application process by registering through its party portal.

The party said the nomination fee payment process would be integrated into the online registration system, with aspirants required to complete payment through the platform.

According to the party, registration will only be recognized as complete once both the registration and payment processes have been successfully completed.

"Registration is only considered complete after both registration and payment are successfully done through the portal," the notice further read.

UDA has set the nomination fee for the MCA position at different rates depending on the category of the aspirant.

Male aspirants will pay Ksh50,000, while female, youth and persons with disabilities (PWD) aspirants will each pay Ksh25,000.
