Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in several parts of the country on Monday, October 5.

In a notice on Sunday, October 4, the company said the outages will affect customers in Nairobi, Kericho, Uasin Gishu, Nyeri and Embu counties.

In Nairobi, customers in Kosovo, including Shofco, Utalii and adjacent areas, will experience an electricity interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The same outage period will affect part of Kitsuru, covering Gachie, Nyari West, Redhill Road, Rosslyn Green Crescent, Trio, Rosslyn Academy and adjacent customers.

In Kericho County, the scheduled interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will affect Greenview Hospital, Green Square Mall, TRF, Kaisugu Tea Factory, Mau Tea, Chepsir Market, Brooke Wood, Kapkiam Market, Buchenge Market and Kaboloin Market, as well as adjacent customers.

Customers in Uasin Gishu County will experience a shorter interruption. Kenya Power has scheduled the outage from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Kong’nyalil, parts of Kaplolo, the entire Uswo Village and adjacent areas.

In Nyeri County, the interruption will affect Good Wood Properties and adjacent customers from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Embu County will have the longest scheduled outage window, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m. 

The affected areas include Makutano, Mufu, Njeruri, St Mary Goretti Girls, Kanja, Mukuuri, Mbuinjeru, Kiaragana Primary School and Munyuttu, together with adjacent customers.

Elsewhere, Kenya Power has warned customers and members of the public against engaging with its customer care account on X after the account was reportedly compromised.

In a notice on Saturday, October 3, the company said its customer care account, @KenyaPower_Care, had been accessed without authorisation, prompting it to begin efforts to recover control of the account.

"Our customer care account on X, @KenyaPower_Care has experienced unauthorised access and the recovery process is currently underway," the notice read.

Kenya Power cautioned customers against interacting with posts appearing on the compromised account as the company works to restore secure access.

"Customers and members of the public are advised not to engage with any content posted on the account," the notice added.

Kenya Power further urged customers to ignore any communication or instructions originating from the affected account until further notice.

"Please do not respond to any messages sent or take instructions issued through the account until further notice," the notice further read.
