TSC has announced that teachers can start reporting today. September 28, will be the last reporting date.

The Government through the Teachers Service Commission has directed all teachers to resume work on September 28, 2020 ahead of the re-opening of schools.

Addressing the media earlier today, TSC Chief Executive Nancy Macharia noted that any teacher who is ready can report at any time starting today.

According to her, this is meant to help preparing schools before students can be allowed to report.

“We ask our teachers to report back to schools on Monday 28, September to prepare for the eventual reopening,” she said.

Speaking at the same event, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha noted that September 28 will be the deadline for reporting.


Committee on Re-opening of Schools Settles on New Opening Date

Meanwhile, the committee appointed by Prof Magoha to oversee the re-opening of schools has settled on October 19th 2020, as the new opening dates.

The committee noted that the new date is subject to acceptance by CS Magoha and his team from the ministry.

Reports on Nation indicate that the committee advised the Ministry of Education to consider having the KCSE and KCPE national examinations in April 2021.

Should the new dates be adopted, candidates and all other pupils will have a slight delay in the educational calendar, but will not repeat classes as had earlier been indicated.

All schools were closed in March after the country confirmed positive corona virus cases in the country.

This new development also indicates that the country may soon be re-opened fully, since opening of schools is the major aspect that was still pending.
