National Council of Elders Patron Kung'u Muigai and cousin to President Uhuru Kenyatta has told the people of Mount Kenya that the Head of State will be communicating to them through National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.
Muigai dispelled criticism directed towards Speaker Muturi, stating that the region had settled on him to pick up the baton from President Kenyatta and lead the region.
The National Assembly Speaker has been at the end of constant jabs by lawmakers from the region including some allied to the president, since his coronation at the Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga Shrine in Murang'a County last month.
President Kenyatta's cousin termed the rumbles as mere, and could not derail plans to install Muturi as Mount Kenya's kingpin.
He revealed that the May coronation was the first step and that they are planning a second coronation at a shrine in the Mt Kenya forest where they will seal his enthronement as the region's supreme political leader.
"After the process is complete, Muturi will be the supreme leader and will speak to the entire region on behalf of the president. When the president visits, then he will bow to him," Muigai stated.
He reiterated that President Kenyatta was aware of the plans to coronate Muturi as the region's spokesperson.
"Whenever we have an issue we shall send Muturi to communicate to the President, and then he will share the feedback with us," he said.
Muigai alleged that Elders from the Mt Kenya West region had agreed to support a leader from the Mt Kenya East region during their meeting with President Kenyatta at the Sagana State Lodge.
