Deputy President William Ruto is reportedly courting Migori Governor Okoth Obado to join his Hustler team and help him make inroads in the Nyanza region; the political bedrock of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
On Sunday, DP Ruto’s brother David Ruto hosted Governor Obado at his Kileleshwa home where they reportedly deliberated on possibilities of working together ahead of the upcoming general election.
Reports indicate that the two drafted plans for a joint meeting in Migori County later this month.
Speaking to a local daily, Governor Obado acknowledged that the meeting took place, but noted that Kenyans should no read much into it.

“It’s true we met and as politicians, we discussed a number of issues whose details will come to light in due course.
“Let us not create a mountain out of the visit. It was not political and should be treated as such. If I’ve anything political, I’d discuss it with the Deputy President himself. Let people not read too much into such meetings,” the governor said.
Reports indicate that Governor Obado’s PDP party could form an alliance with UDA in 2022 and provide a platform for those seeking elective seats.
DP Ruto’s brother David Ruto is leading UDA’s activities in Nyanza region. Earlier this year, he launched the ‘Hustler’ movement in Kisumu and promised to roll out the same in all Nyanza counties.
Currently, the DP’s team is already working with Odinga’s former strategist Eliud Owalo and a section of Nyanza leaders in plotting a strategy of infiltrating the region that is known to faithfully back the former Prime Minister.
