Deputy President William Ruto has raised several questions regarding a report that President Uhuru Kenyatta will endorse an Opposition candidate for the 2022 Presidency.

Reacting to a story by The Star titled “Uhuru: I’ll Back One Nasa Chief for Presidency”, the DP appeared to suggest that it was unfair for the Head of State to ignore those who campaigned and voted for him thrice between 2013 and 2017.

“EUCHO!!NGAI FAFA MWATHANI!! So, what happens to the Thurakus, the kumìrà kùmèrà contingent, the 8 million of us?? None, no youth, no woman, no man of the 8M who woke up early and voted 3 times for UK/WsR ticket merit support? Sawa tu! Tutajipanga na support ya MUNGU,” Ruto tweeted.

Speaking on Monday while addressing a delegation of leaders from Ukambani, the President urged Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to consider pushing for the unity of the former NASA alliance, hinting that he may support whoever they settle on as their candidate.

According to the Head of State, The region will only have a say in government f they unite and work with other regions since no one can win the presidency alone.

“Steve (Kalonzo), listen to your people and what they are saying. Unite in Nasa then we shall see what will happen. Whatever you will agree on is what I will go with.

“If as Ukambani you will work together and stay united the way the Mt Kenya region is doing, then I have no doubt you will be part of the next government,” Uhuru said.
