Deputy President William Ruto has questioned President Uhuru Kenyatta after reports emerged on Tuesday in a local daily that the latter would back a presidential candidate from NASA principals.
The local daily claimed that the Head of State challenged the NASA principals which comprise of Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, and Moses Wetangula to unite ahead of next year's General election to stand a chance of forming the next Government.
According to reports, Kenyatta also declared that he would back one of the NASA principals.
Reacting to the report, DP Ruto questioned whether the move to destroy Jubilee was meant to pave way for the support of tribal parties.
"So, was the destruction/dismembering of Jubilee, a national party, meant to pave way for support of regional/tribal parties in Nasa? Now, with the collapse of Jubilee, isn't it fair for those who can't fit in ethnic parties to build UDA as an alternative national party? Ama?" DP Ruto posed.
In an earlier tweet, the DP questioned whether none of the 8 million people who voted for the Uhuru/Ruto ticket merited the President's support.
????♀️????♂️????????♀️????????♂️EUCHO!!NGAI FAFA MWATHANI!! So, what happens to the Thurakus, the kumìrà kùmèrà contingent, the 8 million of us?? None, no youth, no woman, no man of the 8M who woke up early and voted 3 times for UK/WsR ticket merit support? Sawa tu! Tutajipanga na support ya MUNGU. pic.twitter.com/nz0oIxw86k

In a recent interview, DP Ruto disclosed that in the event Jubilee does not want them in their party, they would plan themselves with UDA.
“If it gets to a point where they do not want us to be there in Jubilee, then we must have a different plan. You cannot wait to hit a wall. Going forward, if there is no agreement, then we will plan ourselves with UDA. We have built UDA in partnership with Jubilee. It is not us starting afresh. We are just going on with what we already have,” the DP said.
