Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has said he will vie for Presidency in 2022 only if Kenyans want and ask him to go for the seat.

Speaking during an interview with vernacular radio stations on Friday, Odinga noted that he will force himself on Kenyans, adding that his decision will be anchored on the feedback from the electorate.

He further noted that his decision on whether or not to go for the top seat will not be influenced by the endorsements he gets from other leaders.

“Mimi sitaki kujilazimisha ati mimi nisimame kama wakenya hawataki. Mimi nitagombea urais kama wakenya watasema nisimame. Nikona agenda ya kuleta amani katika taifa letu…Siendi kwa sababu nitaungwa mkono na fulani au fulani,” he said.

As to whether he will be seeking the endorsement of the One Kenya Alliance Principles, having worked with them in the former NASA Coalition, Odinga noted that he won’t force them to endorse him, adding that they are free to field a candidate for the top seat.

“Wale wengine marafiki na siwezi walazimisha waniunge mkono,” he said.

In the recent past, Odinga has been dropping hints regarding his political future, with most of his communication suggesting that he may vie for the top seat.

Over the past two months, the former Premier has been releasing statements explaining his ideological standpoint in regards to various key issues including health, peace co-existence and stabilization of the economy.

He has also held several meetings with President Uhuru Kenyatta, creating speculation that may be he is being fronted by the State to take over after the 2022 General Election.
