In October 2017, police raided and and found seven guns (five pistols, one M4 assault rifle and a shotgun) plus 600 rounds of ammunition at Wanjigi’s palatial Muthaiga home.

Billionaire business cum politician Jimi Wanjigi has revisited an incident where police raided his home and found heavy artillery of weapons, noting that all the guns were licensed by the government.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV’s Sunday Live Show, Wanjigi who has already declared his bid for 2022 Presidency, noted that the weapons are for protecting his property, considering that he has investments in several places in the country.

He further noted that he should not be treated as an isolated case since many other Kenyans are licensed gun holders.

“Those were licensed weapons, licensed by the Government of Kenya. There is a renewal process every year. I am not different to many other Kenyans with those licenses. I had licensed them at the time for more than twenty something years.

“So, really, I think one with investments in quite a few places, I don’t think that is too bad. I did not carry those weapons on me like on my bag, they must have been carried by other who were probably protecting property,” he said.

Put to task to explain whether he likes guns, Wanjigi noted that he does not fancy guns at all. “I don’t like guns. I am not a fan of guns at all.”

In October 2017, police raided and and found seven guns and 600 rounds of ammunition at Wanjigi’s palatial Muthaiga home.

The seven guns included; five pistols, a military gade M4 assault rifle and a shotgun.

Speaking after the raid, police said the M4 assault rifle found at Wanjigi home was not licensed, adding the weapon is not allowed to be in the hands of civilians. However, Wanjigi and his family maintained that all the weapons at their disposal had been licensed by the relevant authority.
