Nelson Baraza surrendered to detectives in Kapenguria, West Pokot County on Wednesday after he allegedly killed his girlfriend, Egla Chepkorir, for cheating.
According to DCI, the 29-year-old walked into a police station and confessed his crime before leading detectives to the murder scene.
The suspect told detectives that he didn't want police officers or kins of Chepkorir wasting their valuable time looking for her.
"Nelson Baraza, 29, alias ‘TupaTupa’, walked casually to Kapenguria Police station in West Pokot county, and requested to see the DCIO over a matter he that he wanted to report. He was led to the criminal investigations office where he told our officers that he had murdered his girlfriend and didn’t want her kin and our officers to spend valuable time looking for her.
"He, therefore, requested the officers to accompany him to the location where he had committed the crime and left the body. The officers who were bemused by the man’s confession questioned him further on the veracity of his claims since such admissions are hard to come by," part of the statement read.

The daring confession prompted detectives to accompany the suspect to the crime scene where they were shocked to find the body.
"Upon arrival on the foot of Kamatira hills, 10 killometres away from the station, detectives were confronted by the body of 20-year-old Egla Chepkorir, sprawled under a tree in middle of a maize plantation.
"Baraza explained to detectives that he killed Egla after he found out that she had been in a clandestine love affair with another man. With the pain of betrayal too much to bear, he lured her to the plantation and brutally murdered her using a leso before walking to the police station to book himself for the murder," the statement adds in part.
