President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday met and held talks with the United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guteress at the UN headquarters New York, United States of America.
The main issue that dominated the talks is the security and humanitarian crises in Haiti and Ethiopia's Tigray region.
Additionally, the two leaders deliberated on the forthcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) scheduled to take place in Glasgow, Scotland.
According to a statement released by State House, the President and the UN boss agreed to continue engaging the Ethiopian government and other stakeholders in possible conflict resolution mechanisms, in a bid to ease tension and find lasting solutions.

On the Haiti case, the two leaders agreed to mobilise the international community to work together with the Caribbean nation towards ending the current instability.
Following the successful deliberations with the UN boss, President Kenyatta is today Tuesday, October 12, 2021 expected to chair a UN Security Council session on diversity, state building and peace.
After the session, the Head of State is scheduled to take part in an International Peace Institute's Global Leaders' discussion on the UN Secretary General's Common Agenda report.
Meanwhile, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Kenya will preside over the council’s affair for the entire month of October. It is on this premise that the Head of State travelled to New York.
