Veteran gospel musician Roy Smith Mwita popularly known as Rufftone has announced his plans to vie for the Nairobi Senate seat during the August 9, 2022, General Elections.

The award-winning artist made the revelations during an interview on Churchill Show.

“I am disclosing this for the first time in regards to what the future holds for Rufftone. You are looking at the new incoming Nairobi Senator, Mr Roy Smith Mwita,” he said.

Rufftone joins a host of other Kenyan musicians who are eyeing elective office in 2022. Some of them include; Frasha, Gabu, and Prezzo.

They are destined to follow in the footsteps of Starehe Mp Charles Njagua popularly known as Jaguar.

However, Rufftone noted that he would be doing Campus tours across the country before fully embarking on politics.

The 'Mwikhulu' hitmaker revealed that the aim of tours is to mentor young students and promote peace.

All the events will have free entry.

"Working with Lampstand Events, we are very intentional with the initiative dubbed ‘Pure Praise’ where we do campus tours all over the country to deliver the Good News of Christ," he said.

On November 20, the musician was at Machakos University where he kicked off his tour.

Some of the celebrities that graced the event included; journalist Wahiga Mwaura, Daddy Owen, Moji Short Baba, Krystal, Florence Andenyi, Pastor T, Asembo, Fidel Atondola, Dj Nevs, Papa Tomaso, and Ottezy.

Over 4000 people attended his show; his next show will be at the Huruma grounds in Eldoret on December 5.
