Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has hit back at Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici over altercations of her joining the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Speaking to the press on Friday, November 26, Waiguru stated that the voters influenced her to join UDA, which is the popular party in the region, and she only has one vote.
"My vote is one, and the voters have their own votes. Therefore, one has to prepare themselves with the voters' Kwa ground'. I entered the UDA party because the people told me to join the party. The party is not owned by anyone but is the people's party.
"As a good listener, I abided by their will to join the party. We can't say because someone joined earlier, no one will enter the party. If someone started the party, will he\she remain alone? Won't the rest join the party and grow in numbers?" Waiguru remarked.

She later called on to her other five competitors running for the gubernatorial seat to join the UDA party to showcase their strengths amongst the voters.
Ngirici, on Thursday, November 25, had disclosed that she regretted spending millions of shillings in popularizing Deputy President William Ruto's party in the region.
She added that the same party had openly expressed support to her rival instead of her.
"I don't even want to remember how much I have used to build the UDA party in Kirinyaga from scratch, but I'm young in politics and still learning," Ngirici stated.
