Kenya Railways Corporation has issued a statement after a Kisumu bound train stalled at Tamu, Muhoroni leaving passengers onboard stranded.
According to Muhoroni Deputy Sub-County Police Commander Zaphania Kamuren, the second wagon derailed, leading to the incident at approximately 1700 hours.
In the statement, Kenya Railways stated that the heavy rain pour witnessed at the Muhoroni area led to a slight hitch.

At the time of publishing the story, the hitch has been resolved with police confirming that the staff were indeed dispatched to assist in getting the wagon back on track.
"We wish to inform the public that the Kisumu bound train encountered a slight hitch occasioned by the heavy rains that pounded the Muhoroni area earlier.
"The issue has since been sorted out and the train is already on the way to Kisumu. We sincerely apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused as a result," the statement read in part.
The train finally arrived at Kisumu station at 2238hours from the earlier slated time of 1800hours. Kenyans, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the issue.

We ended up spending two nights in the Bush between Manyani & Ndii hapo Tsavo, sans food. Eventually we were bussed to Mombasa," a user by the name Vic stated.

Kenyans anticipated the Kisumu train much when its debut train from Nairobi-Kisumu started operations on Friday, December 17, 2021.
"Kisumu Dala, here we come!Come let's make this journey more exciting together. Kenya Railways will take you from Nairobi City to Dala this festive season. Are you ready? " the corporation stated.
