Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga's presidential bid received a major boost after 30 governors publicly declared their support for him.
Speaking in Naivasha, the governors unanimously backed Raila to be Azimio la Umoja's flag bearer in the August 9 General Elections.
The movement's consultative meeting convened by Raila was attended by 26 governors with four other governors sending their apologies but signed the declaration indicating their support for the former Prime Minister.

9. Joseph Ole Lenku -Kajiado
10. Martin wambora - Embu
11. Ndiritu Mureithi - Laikipia
12. Mohammed Kuti - Isiolo
13. Lee Kinyanjui - Nakuru
14. Alex Tolgos - Elgeyo -Marakwet
15. James Ongwae - Kisii
16. Cornel Rasanga - Siaya
17. Ahmed Arale- Wajir
18. Fahim Twaha - Lamu
19. Amason Kingi - Kilifi
20. Granton Samboja - Taita Taveta

According to Laikipia governor Ndiritu Muriithi, the governors discussed a number of issues including;
Support for devolution- the governors expressed confidence that Raila would carry out and safeguard devolution if elected.
People-focused campaign- the governors noted that Raila's campaign is focused on the needs of each region as witnessed in the Azimio la umoja consultative forums.
Peaceful elections- Through the Azimio la umoja movement, the governors pointed out that the ODM leader has shown commitment to peaceful campaign and elections.
They affirmed that they are keen to lead Azimio to grassroot mobilizations through peaceful and progressive campaigns.
Future of the Nation- The governors noted that Kenyans would be safe in the hands of Raila as envisioned in the Azimio la Umoja.
