Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has dismissed a move by his deputy Adeline Mwau to join deputy president William Ruto's UDA party.
In a statement after the DP unveiled Mwau as the new entrant to the UDA at his official Karen Residence, Kibwana said the move does not reflect the wishes of the people of Makueni.
The Governor said the move is pegged on her individual interest and not that of the larger community that she should represent.
"She had even pledged to take with her a huge delegation of our common political friends to UDA, who declined her overtures," he said.

The Governor further said Makueni County is solidly behind the Azimio La Umoja led by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
He said her entry to UDA is inconsequential adding that she has severed ties with him following her move.
"I wish to categorically make it clear, Makueni people have expressed their intention to support #AzimioLaUmoja and will not be hoodwinked by people seeking self-aggrandizement.
"While I respect Adelina for the good working relations for the last 9 years, her latest move puts our working together on the edge," he stated
Kibwana added: "The voice of the people of Makueni has always been our guide in decision making. I will not abandon that principle for political expediency. ADELINA will walk alone".
Adelina was on Tuesday morning unveiled as the new member of the UDA party by DP Ruto who is keen on consolidating the support of various leaders across the country.
