The ruling Jubilee party has issued a statement regarding the party's upcoming nominations ahead of the August 9 polls.
In a press statement on Thursday by the party's secretary general Jeremiah Kioni, the party intimated that it is committed to ensuring a fair nomination process.
“Discussions are ongoing across all counties so that an agreement can be reached that is mutually acceptable among all aspirants and also feasible to ensure that Jubilee retains its competitive edge over our opponents,” read part of the statement.
The Ndaragwa MP stated that certificates will be issued to the party’s aspirants once the agreement is reached.

However, he noted that the issuance of the certificates will happen in phases where in the first phase, aspirants without competitors will receive the certificates from next week.
In the second phase, certificates will be issued to aspirants once consensus is reached.
He added that the ruling party will use negotiated democracy as a way of dealing with diversity in the country.
“As a matter of fact negotiated democracy is already being practiced in some areas particularly among the pastoralist community,” Kioni stated.
He added that Jubilee has set strong mechanisms to ensure the nomination process is seamless and disputes are dealt with amicably according to the party’s constitution.
Jubilee will conduct its primaries between April 11 and April 22.
